BREAKAWAY TOURS TRAVEL SHOW

Our 2011 event was a rousing success and a good time was had by all.  Representatives from several major cruise lines will be there as well as many area attractions.  We will feature a huge Chinese auction to benefit the American Cancer Society, refreshments, entertainment and more!  The grand prize will be a cruise for two!  A $2 admission to benefit the American Cancer Society will be collected at the door.  If you are within driving distance, come on down!

The Japanese Cherry Blossoms in bloom are one of the all-American sights to see.  Our capital city is lovely in the spring, whether or not Mother Nature puts on her display, and this is your chance to see it economically.  Our coach will depart in the wee small hours of the morning and, with a breakfast stop in Breezewood arrive in mid morning.  We will drop you off near the Tourmobile ticket booth where you may purchase tickets on this tram that stops at all the major attractions, or you may opt to save money and ride the Metro.

Hartville Hardware’s new state-of-the-art 245,000 square foot building will open in the spring of 2012.  We will spend the day shopping here and at the Hartville Flea Market on one of their best weekends of the year.  You can have lunch on your own at the Hartville Kitchen or from the vendors around the property.

This performance is a continuation of the Akron Civic Theatre’s very popular Doo Wop series.  The artists scheduled to perform include, Gene Chandler, Jay Siegel’s Tokens, Jay Traynor, Charlie Thomas’ Drifters, and The Vogues. We park at the local school so that you can make package drop offs.  Mid afternoon a stop will be made at

LIVING HISTORY IN LIGONIER……………………………………..$75.

Our day in Ligonier will begin with a red carpet welcome by colonial costumed servers and a sumptuous buffet with colonial entertainment.  Our trip into history will continue at Fort Ligonier for a “living history” special artillery demonstration and battle re-enactment.  Also included is the fabulous exhibit The World Ablaze with young George Washington’s original memoirs.  Ten furnished buildings along with cannons and wagons are also on view.  A little time to stroll the streets of this historic town will be included along with a stop at McDonald’s Big Mac Museum before heading home.

Visit this quaint Canadian town on the day of the annual Peach Festival.  In addition to the wonderful landscaping, charming shops and eateries, on this day, the Peach is celebrated with a craft show on Queen Street, and peach cooking demonstrations complete with tasting.  This is a perennial favorite. Just off the coast of Parkersburg, WV in the Ohio River sits historic Blennerhassett State Park.  We will access the park via the Island Belle Sternwheeler and be met with a hot box lunch.  A tour of the recreated 1811 mansion will be followed by a narrated wagon ride around the island.  There will also be time to tour Maple Shade, a colonial era home recreated on the island.  Following our journey back to shore, a stop will be made at the Cold Water Creek national outlet for a bit of bargain shopping.  What a lovely day!

Traveling south to the Washington, PA area, our first stop will be for a home cooked country breakfast (brunch) buffet at The Spring House, a country store and creamery where we will also have a little time to tour the farm and shop.  Next stop is Henry Bridge on the day of the Covered Bridge Festival with nearly 50 craft and food vendors.  The Ebenezer Church Bridge will be our next stop with over 100 craft vendors and country music by “Stoney Brooks”. Our coach will deliver us to Cumberland, Maryland, for a round trip ride on Western Maryland Scenic Railroad’s “Mountain Thunder” steam train.  The Helmstetter’s Horseshoe Curve, Brush Tunnel, a mile long gorge and much more, will highlight your route through the gorgeous autumn foliage.  Upon arrival in Frostburg, 1,300 feet up, you will enjoy a box lunch, see the train engine turned on the turntable and browse the gift shops before it’s “all aboard” for the return trip.  Time will be allowed in Cumberland to visit the blanket outlet before stopping at Slick’s Ivy Stone in Osterburg, PA for dinner.
